About Me:

Angeles Ema

«Apart from teaching .. I love to dance and my two cats (Tito and Curro) with whom I love to spend time watching my favorite scifi series!»

I began my career as an English language teacher, and have since gained more than 12 years’ experience teaching Spanish, Catalan and English.

I gained my Spanish teaching certification from the Instituto Cervantes in 2001, which together with my BA in English Philology, gave me the necessary qualifications to develop my skills in teaching languages. I’ve spent many years teaching in state schools in Spain.

My years working in different institutions and environments have taught me that learning goes beyond grammar.

My classes focus on student’s needs, level and learning style.

I am constantly training to be a better teacher:

  • Class management from IH (2017), Lesson planning of Spanish for foreigners (2018),
  • SIELE exam  certified tutor  (2019),
  • Online training course of Spanish as a Second Language (2019), certified by the University Rey Juan Carlos.

Apart from teaching, I have other passions: reading, writing, travelling and country line dancing! I’m also very concerned about human rights and animal rights too!

I worked as an editor for Sci Fi Spain magazine and Scifiworld magazine for nearly 4 years and I was also the Spanish and English consultant for Catalan Style Country Linedance website.

I’ve lived in England, and I’ve spent short periods in Germany and Greece, and I’ve visited some other countries, such as Mexico, Portugal and Holland.

I have been learning Spanish with Angeles for 1 year. With Angeles’ teaching methods I have progressed from a complete beginner to a much more confident speaker with a solid grounding in grammar as well as writing and reading skills.

Angeles is a dedicated, caring and very observant teacher. She constantly goes above and beyond, providing practical advice to maximise learning opportunities and to increase confidence in speaking.

I feel extremely lucky to have found Angeles and I look forward to continuing my journey with her.

Angeles has been my Spanish teacher since summer 2017 and has helped me “finely tune” my Spanish, which was already of an advanced level. She has helped me with my pronunciation and has a keen ear for spotting the most subtle errors I make and has helped me correct them and perfect my Spanish.

We have been meeting once a week and as a teacher I find her very organised and responsive and she has never cancelled a class. Her high level of education and her academic background are also invaluable when it comes to my learning and her teaching resources.

Moreover, I completely recommend her as a teacher for any non-Spanish person, of any level, wanting to learn or improve their Spanish.

Angeles is very professional and highly educated. It is a pleasure to work with her as she accommodates her services based on my needs and pace of learning.

Human based approach instead of pre-deternined curriculum. Highly recommended!

I have been taking Spanish lessons with Angeles since the autumn of 2017 and I am pleased to say that my knowledge of Spanish has increased due to my lessons with her, both in speaking and in writing.

Angeles is very good at explaining things and she adapts the content of the lessons to my level as well as interests. She teaches mostly in Spanish which is better for me but can explain everything in English when I need it.

For the last 2 months, my husband and I have been using Angeles to help improve our day to day  spoken Spanish and understanding of general grammar, verbs, tenses and colloquialisms.

We are at different levels and she has been able to adapt easily to our individual needs making the classes both informative and enjoyable.

We highly recommend her.
